The Segama River is more than just water.
It is a lifeline for the communities who have made their homes along its banks, a sanctuary for the wildlife that depends on its waters, and a living thread connecting Sabah's natural and cultural heritage across generations.Yet this lifeline is increasingly under strain — from pollution, erosion, unsustainable practices, and the mounting pressures of a changing climate. Rising temperatures, unpredictable rainfall, and more frequent extreme weather events are already reshaping the river's water quality, its fish populations, and the livelihoods of the people who have long depended on it.
Forever Segama exists to stand alongside these communities in the work of change.
Our Vision
We believe that meaningful change begins with action.Through the Integrated Catchment Management Plan (ICMP), we work in close partnership with local communities, government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector to:
Restore and protect our waters, wildlife, and the livelihoods that depend on them
Share knowledge and science in ways that are accessible, relevant, and grounded in local understanding
Strengthen community leadership and the institutions that support collective decision-making
Cultivate a greener economy — one that serves both people and the natural systems we are part of
Our approach weaves together innovation, good governance, scientific data, and shared awareness. Together, we are building resilience in the face of climate challenges, including the prospect of a 3.2°C rise in temperature — while honouring the deep connection between land, river, and community.

About Us
We are a growing movement of individuals, families, and communities bound together by a shared care for the Segama River and the people whose lives are woven into it. What began as a modest pilot project has grown, through the trust and participation of local communities, into a broader effort, one focused on empowering the people of the Segama, restoring the ecosystems that sustain them, and building lasting resilience in the face of a changing climate.
